On Friday a friend/coworker were busted for the importation of drugs into the US as a result of using the Silk Road :(
i thought that the server outage and site being down was related to this to be honest as the Feds have said that this was a joint operation with Dutch and British authorities (which is where they claim that the silk-road is hosted and operated) and the site is in the process of being closed down
he had around $6000 worth of BTC confiscated (the Computer forensics team knew exactly what they were looking for, they took his wallet and wallet backups) and they also took his multiple USB thumb-drive backups which he made after the 500K "hack" hit the news the other day they also took his droid his PS3(?) and his thinkpad.
they are in the process of taking down his dwolla account and have already seized his mtgox account by changing the passwords (somehow they've snagged his keepass pass which has given them access to everything).
they have said that mtgox is specifically set up for money laundering and is also being closed now. they have said that the other trading and exchange sites are next.
there seems to be an international task force between multiple countries that are stamping out BTC and international anonymous drug trading :(
if I can find out a way to upload documents I can scan in the limited details that I have from the bust.
my buddy is still in jail and is being refused a lawyer with the claim of national security or some terrorism bullshit. the same guys tried to scare me by linking me with the sale and the fact that he had sent me a few hundred bitcoins some months back but i did not get arrested yet.
i need to get him help and I need to get this out there. i don't know what to do. i have some (a few hundred) bitcoins and should i send them somewhere else? should I sell them? can i get busted for doing this?
this is some george orwell shit going down here.

10 for 1 seems like a good policy to me
-
That's bad dude. I wish your friend the best.
I can't say I think anybody is really smart for making major transactions, like I assume he was, on the net like this. The great thing is that here, 95% of purchases are straight up only personal use. Feds can't be bothered obtaining search warrants for letter mail with a few pills or a 1/2 oz of hooch..
Still sucks though. Did you say your local media is reporting on this and mentioned silk road? Any links?

Upload scans here http://4eiruntyxxbgfv7o.onion/ (http://4eiruntyxxbgfv7o.onion/)

That's really bad. Tell us all you know.
Would I be right in assuming your friend was ordering large quantities?
-
Smells like slander to me.
And the mention of feds changing mtgox account's passwords. The story is full of holes!
This seams to be part of the current slander attacks to take down bitcoin.
-
just like your site was..
-
My site "was" what?
My site is up and running and going well, thank you.

I'm calling bullshit on this.
Sounds like another clown trying to spread fear. Hard to believe anything written on these forums with all those jackasses making "forward notice" and radioactive material threads.
I'm so fucking sorry if this is true but your story is lacking A LOT of details. You told us about how the cops seized your friend's PS3, bitcoins, wallet and all that jazz, but you can't provide basic info like : what he was busted with, how big of a quantity and if the cops tried to do a controlled delivery.

Agreed. Name, date, location or it didn't happen

Feds spreading psyops.
-
I was about to believe you until you started that stuff with mtgox.
They are not about to shut mtgox down, dude. thats bullshit.
now, I think the whole story is shit. to prove me wrong, upload details and documents.
Greets, M

I'm also going to chime in to say this is bullshit. LE would not give forewarning that they were going to shut down a site. That's why they do them all at the same time if there are multiple targets -- for example, Operation Web Tryp or the recent shutdown of online poker sites.
-
Someone missed the news story. Mt.Gox sent an open letter to the DEA saying they would cooperate with any laundering investigation. Basically, they're not going to be shut down/locking people out.

Exactly, Police wont just start chatting with you giving you little details that they have on us, let alone speculating how mtgox is a money laundering website ffs.
Obvious troll is obvious.
Stay strong people! I have a feeling we are going to more of this grey propaganda bullshit over the next few weeks..

First: there's no free lunch. If you haven't at least a little bit of sand--and caution--you shouldn't be here. Second: nobody's totally trustworthy. I've been at this game longer than most of you, and paid hard dues because I thought 'somebody' was trustworthy. And that's how it always ends. 'Somebody' talks a little too much, they get nailed, they rat on somebody bigger, and then a bunch of us end up playing dominoes in Soledad. The genius of this site is to protect us from each other.
We need to toughen up a bit, and just be careful...and to the owners: *Please!* no more interviews :)

this.

Dig it. The war on drugs is lost. No LE in the world can afford to play such petty games with trifles!
-
Yeah a Patriot act for an American citizen is complete troll bullshit.
-
The admin might want to consider putting disclaimers above stories like this warning people that its a possible psyops attack, which it probably is since the DEA cant do shit about silkroad.
-
mtgox IS shutdown as of now
https://support.mtgox.com/entries/20208066-huge-bitcoin-sell-off-due-to-a-compromised-account-rollback
but not for this, unless it is some crazy elaborate cover story
what is the sr username of the alleged person who got busted? we'd need to know because we would want to avoid doing any business with that username...

Consider this:
1.) The user registered 37 minutes before posting their one and only post.
2.) The user logged out 8 minutes after posting and never returned.
the only question is cop or troll?
both would have essentially the same motive (spread fear / disrupt system)

It's a troll, a pathetic troll. At best it's a pathetic cop.
OTOH real bad guys did real bad guy shit on Mt Gox. As of this posting, it's down and who flipping knows if it's ever coming back. And if it does come back, will all my BTC and $ still be there?? This is the line we stand on. The anonymity, encryption, stability, etc. of our systems is our security. Our security must best all comers or we will fail.
Even if Mt Gox is defeated, Bit Coin may yet survive. However, if BTC itself is compromised, or if there is weaknesses in the TOR network, if The Silk Road is successfully hacked, then the battle is lost. Should that happen, we will sink back into the shadows, one by one, and regroup here and there as chance allows. We'll chose another field to fight on, draw another line to stand on.
But that day is not this day. Today our Silk Road is open for business. Today the sun shines upon us. It is HERE where we fight. It is NOW that we defiantly challenge all who would subdue us, BRING IT ON. For if we withstand the most earnest attacks from every front, then victory is ours! Our mighty enemy, whose army has oppressed us for a century, will lie broken at our feet, and we will see a new day of freedom dawn.

Good now we have drugs, and entertainment. I can smoke weed and laugh at the failed propaganda/trolling.
It's like dinner and a show ;D

If you take a look see at my avatar that's basically my facial expression after reading the initial post. At least it was amusing.

It could be a cop, or just a competitor!
there are other anonymous networks, not just Tor, such as i2p!

Yes. How do you think I found out about this site and how to get in? Im not a tech geek. It had the url highlighted and gave reference to Tor..............Local media...........Mentioned "The amazon of Drugs" and gave the highlighted areas, of course when you clicked on them gave the information. Voila!
